
About WYAC
We are the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC.
The Wangkangurru Yarluyandi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (WYAC) began in 2014 with the intention of being the Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) to represent the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi to their native title area.
WYAC was appointed as the RNTBC when the Federal Court of Australia granted a Consent Determination of native Tttle to the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi People at Birdsville on 3 October 2014.
As the RNTBC, WYAC represents the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi People in relation to its dealings with a third parties such as the State, petroleum and mining companies, and others who wish to undertake work in the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi lands.
The WYAC Board
The WYAC Board is chosen according to family groups, and appointed by the WYAC members to represent them. The WYAC Board works to further the objectives of WYAC which include but are not limited to managing and protecting land of traditional or cultural significance, advancing the health, welfare and education and living standards of its members, seeking economic opportunities for its members, promoting the learning of language and culture, and representing WYAC to third parties and entering into agreements on behalf of the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi People in relation their native title lands.
